Experience a sunken city! All about Deep Dive Dubai
Ever wondered what it would be like to explore a sunken city? Well, wonder no more! Deep Dive Dubai offers you the chance to live that amazing experience for real. Verified by the Guinness World Records as the world’s deepest pool, this epic new attraction in Dubai is open and ready to blow your mind.
Recently, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Will Smith visited the largest and deepest underwater attraction in Dubai on its opening day of July 07, 2021. Initially, one could only visit via invitation but from the 28th of July, it has opened for the general public. We’ve got everything you need to know.
ALL ABOUT DEEP DIVE DUBAI
Dubai is no stranger to record-breaking attractions. The city that has the world’s tallest building and world’s largest mall is now home to the deepest dive pool as well! With a staggering depth of 60.02 metres, Deep Dive Dubai can hold 14 million litres of water. That is equivalent to six Olympic-sized swimming pools! Presently, this venue is at least four times bigger than any other diving pool in the world.
The 1,500 sq.m. facility was designed like a giant oyster in tribute to the UAE’s traditional pearl diving culture. Interestingly, Poland’s Deepspot, that’s more than 45 metres deep, had previously held the record of the world’s deepest pool.
To maintain the highest safety and hygiene standards, freshwater purified by an advanced system is circulated throughout the pool. Besides the NASA-developed filter technology, there is a 12-person hyperbaric facility to treat divers in the case of any accidents. Water temperature is maintained at 30 degrees Celsius to keep the visitors comfortable.
The main attraction at Deep Dive in Dubai is Sunken City. Divers can explore incredible sunken sights including a gaming arcade, an apartment and an abandoned streetscape. Diving with a friend? An underwater competition on one of those arcade games is a must!
An underwater lighting and sound system, along with 56 underwater cameras, have been installed for safety reasons.
The attraction complex is also home to a gift shop and restaurant, as well as underwater event and meeting spaces! For those who want to enjoy the experience without actually diving, there are huge viewing areas on the lower floors.
WHAT ARE THEY SAYING?
While the appeal for something as incredible as Deep Dive Dubai is universal, the whole experience is rooted in the UAE’s pearl diving history.
Abdullah Bin Habtoor, the spokesman for the venue affirmed in a statement that the focus is paying tribute to the country’s pearl divers:
“In developing the concept and facility, we took inspiration from the bravery and fortitude of the UAE’s pearl-diving heritage. We also hope to embody the determination of Emirati explorers and innovators, both past and present, as well as provide a platform for future achievements and discoveries.
“Deep Dive Dubai allows thrill-seekers to dive inwards and discover a new underwater dimension filled with adventure and wonder. This facility is an investment in Dubai’s growing sports culture and will add another world-class destination to Dubai’s thriving tourist attraction and adventure tourism sector.”
