Cityscape Dubai 2017: Preview
This year, Cityscape Global is taking cues from the needs of investors and developers as well as larger market drivers in what promises to be a spectacular exhibition.
building a greener future
Dubai has the lofty, eco-friendly ambition to become one of the world’s most sustainable cities by 2020. Supporting this vision is one that requires cooperation and contribution from all industries, with real estate developments being key.
According to Tariq Khayyat (Head of Region – Middle East for Zaha Hadid Architects, ZHA), it is vital to further technology in design, materials and construction processes to reduce not only energy consumption but harmful emissions as well. As a city, Dubai has made great strides in advancing its status as a sustainable city by frequently developing, launching and implementing innovative solutions. This is a sentiment that runs through ZHA, as they “…[marry] innovative digital design with ecological sound materials and sustainable construction practices…”
“Sustainability is no longer a choice option within the industry.”
Tariq Khayyat
reshaping the industry
Building on its reputation as “the home of real estate investment”, the Cityscape Global Conference is returning to Dubai. The full-day forum will concentrate on the theme of ‘Reshaping the Industry’ and engage attendees with insights into the property market with separate afternoon session: the Real Estate Brokers Programme and the Architecture Programme. Industry supremos such as HE Marwan Bin Ghalita (CEO of Dubai Land Department and Real Estate Regulatory Authority) and Wesam Lootah, (CEO, Smart Dubai Government) will share their unique expertise on subjects such as the city’s regulatory landscape, Blockchain strategy and healthcare as an enticing real estate asset.
making informed decisions
The exhibition also works closely with the city’s different regulatory bodies, working with authorities such as local land departments in their goal to increase investor transparency. One of these bodies is RERA, “to ensure that only registered projects are showcased and now sold at the exhibition”, explained Tom Rhodes (Exhibition Director).
buy onsite
For the first time, Cityscape Global will offer investors the opportunity to purchase UAE-based properties right at the show. “This is a great opportunity for developers to increase their ROI onsite, and for visitors to capitalise on attractive price options, making informed purchasing decisions directly on the show floor,” said Rhodes. The decision to introduce onsite purchases is further supported by the fact that in the previous edition of Cityscape Global, 68% of visitors intended to either purchase property or deal with a developer from the show and that 42% of GCC and Egyptian investors see the UAE as the most inviting real estate investment opportunity.
