Here’s everything you need to know about the truly amazing Burj Al Arab helipad exhibition.
What’s Happening?
The Art Maze is an art exhibition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sights. To be launched by renowned artist Sacha Jafri and art visionary Marcus Schaefer, this exhibition will shine a light on UNESCO’s three pillars: education, science and culture.
This event will run from 23rd March to 27th March, 2022.
About The Art Maze
The Art Maze is a world tour running from 2022 to 2023, starting from the UAE with the goal of reaching ‘the four corners of the Earth’. It will be concluding in 2023 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Jafri will be showcasing 30 of his art masterpieces (oil on canvas), depicting original World Heritage Sites. One of these artworks is from the UAE, titled ‘cultural sites of Al Ain, UAE’. The art will be on display inside a maze – a custom-built 12 m x 12 m labyrinth gallery designed by Schaefer.
The Art Maze will use the opportunity of exploring the World’s Heritage Sites during their tour to understand our cultural past better and share it with the world. Visitors can soak up the exquisite artworks as they walk through this maze and delve into our past using technology such as Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality.
You must be wondering, why a maze? Marcus Schaefer, the curator of this art exhibition says that the maze represents our life, as visitors get to choose their starting point; and the end-point is the same as the starting point. Like life, it is the journey that becomes the destination and we reflect on the beauty around us along the way.
Sacha Jafri says that this exhibition hopes to bring our attention back to the beauty that surrounds us. In a world where everyone is glued to their phones and technology forces us to live online, his vision sees us re-establishing links with our cultural history and heritage.
