Bayut Cup ’17: Battle of the Brokerages
If you needed any proof that the real estate industry in Dubai is competitive, fast-paced and fierce, you don't have to look any further than the Bayut Cup '17, where Allsopp & Allsopp were crowned champions for 2017!
While each of the 24 agencies (along with our very own Bayut team) are forces to be reckoned with in real estate, and we have to admit that the same is true on the football pitch as well.

how the bayut cup' played out
Thursday, 19 October saw the Group Stage of the tournament, with scores of supporters cheer cheering themselves hoarse for over 30 energetic, 10-minute, five-a-side matches. If there was ever any doubt that football is the beautiful game, beloved the world over, no matter who you are...just spending a few minutes at the Bayut Cup '17 would have been enough to convince you.
The atmosphere was electric as the first set of matches kicked off, with our very own Bayut team facing off against Mylo, Harbor taking on Al Wasayef, Kensington against Trimeta, Aston Pearl putting on a fantastic show against KBS, previous champions haus & haus taking on Espace and eventual finalists Clarke & Scott showing their skill against Driven. With six matches taking place simultaneously, backed by passionate colleagues and friends who made their support known, the evening was off to the perfect start!
Some of the teams that took part in the Bayut Cup '17.
Minutes after the final whistle, the next set of teams from each group took to the pitches: RBA narrowly beating Springfield by a single goal, stalwarts Engel & Völkers taking on the real estate power brokerage One Broker Group, For Est playing PH, Better Homes drawing with McCone, St. Clair fighting it out with Core Savills and Quantum getting a taste of what eventual winners Allsopp & Allsopp have to offer.
After playing another match in their individual group (interestingly, eventual finalists Clarke & Scott and Allsopp & Allsopp did meet each other in the group stages and drew!), teams crowded around the scoreboard to see who had made it through. And although the majority of matches were very closely fought, only 16 teams left happy...with a chance to win the Bayut Cup!
Taking place a week after the Group Stages to give our teams some time to refuel, two tense hours of football saw the remaining teams fight it out in nail-biting knockout rounds, with Haus & Haus, Espace, Al Wasayef, Mylo, Kensington, (being led by their CCO Mario Volpi) and Harbor making it to the semi and quarter-finals respectively, but narrowly missing out on the final.
The coveted spots in the final went to industry big-wigs Allsopp & Allsopp and Clarke & Scott. After some fabulous football (and fans from both sides who were screaming themselves hoarse), Allsopp & Allsopp, led by their CEO, Lewis Allsopp, finally emerged victorious, having beaten their rivals by three goals to two.
Well done to everyone who took part and huge congratulations to our winning teams! We hope you enjoy your cash prizes, gold and silver medals...not to mention bragging rights until the next Bayut Cup!
