WHAT IS NAVRATRI?

The festival lasts for nine nights and ten days that are dedicated to the worship of the Hindu goddess Durga and her nine avatars. During these nine nights and subsequent days, people celebrate with prayers, special rituals, fasting and nightly dances. Navratri is celebrated in several parts of the Indian subcontinent and holds special importance in Gujarat.
WHEN IS NAVRATRI 2020?
Navratri translates to ‘nine nights’ and as the name suggests, is celebrated across nine nights and ten days. The Navratri 2020 dates in Dubai are from Saturday, 17 October to Monday, 26 October. Navratri is actually celebrated twice a year, during March and April, then during September and October. But the celebrations in the second half of the year are much grander and colourful and more eagerly awaited by the Hindu community.
NAVRATRI EVENTS IN DUBAI IN 2020
Navratri celebrations are usually marked with fun-filled dandiya nights and Garba dances in Dubai, as well as live entertainment, food, drinks and more! For Navratri 2020 in Dubai, the Hindu community has decided to restrict their celebrations to their respective homes.
This year there will be no dandiya events and garba in Dubai for the Indian festival of Navratri. The Hindu Temple in Bur Dubai however, will remain open for prayers. Devotees can attend 30 minutes of prayer sessions in the morning and evening every day.
