Overview
The Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, adopted the idea of an Islamic Botanical Garden back in 2006, in collaboration with UNESCO. The Islamic Botanical Garden features more than 50 trees, herbs and shrubs mentioned in Prophetic medicine, Sunnah and Holy Quran. It was established by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in the Sharjah Wildlife Safari.
The garden is beautified with fountains, shaded walkways, fragrant flowering herbs and narrow irrigation channels. The selection of plants is also inspired by the description of Jannah, as mentioned in the Quran.

An opportunity to learn about plants at the Islamic Botanical Garden, Sharjah
It took three years for botanists to collect the plants in partnership with UNESCO. Visitors to the Islamic Botanical Garden can observe many flowering and fruit-bearing plants in the garden. The garden houses several indoor and outdoor species. Aside from these, other species were grown from seeds or imported from all various locations around the world.
Each exhibit is labelled with the plant’s name in Arabic and English. The garden also has smart screens that provide an overview of each plant’s properties, uses, benefits and other details.
