All about the magical Aladdin City in Dubai
The emirate of Dubai is synonymous with mega residential and commercial projects. ALADDIN CITY DUBAI HISTORY
Located in Riggat Al Buteen, Deira, the project is inspired by the tales of Aladdin and Sinbad. Dubai Municipality is the organisation leading the development of this mega project. While commenting on the vision behind Aladdin City, Director-General Hussain Nasser Lootah described it as the “icons of legends of the past with a touch of beauty and tourism, characteristic of the city.”
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Who hasn’t read about Aladdin? Now, with this project, we get to experience it as well. The ambitious themed complex is inspired by Aladdin, Sinbad and other stories from the Arabian Nights.
Upon completion, Aladdin City Dubai will feature a 27-storey hotel connected to an 8-storey Hotel Entrance Building, a 19-storey apartment hotel and an 18-storey office building. All buildings will be interconnected with a hanging bridge leading to a 10-storey parking building with 900 parking spots. These will be designed to resemble Aladdin’s famous magic lamp from the popular fable.
Air-conditioned bridges and moving walkways will connect the three towers so residents can easily switch between the buildings. Moreover, the shape of the bridge that connects the towers will resemble the dragons, snakes and other exotic creatures immortalised by the books. Dubai Aladdin City’s online plans reveal impressive buildings with stunning glass exteriors covered in a gold lattice.
Since the whole project will be constructed at a port, it was essential not to disrupt any activities. Hence, a hotel building entrance/reception and pedestrian bridges have been built. The Dubai Municipality selected Architect International Design Studio (IDS) to provide architectural support.
