About Al Wasl Sports Club
The acclaimed club was originally founded in 1960 under the name Al Zamalek Club. It was established when a young group of local men chose Bakhit Salem’s house in Za’abeel as the perfect location to engage in various sports. Their first major achievement happened in 1966 when they beat Al Shadab in a Canada Dry championship.
The late His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, former ruler of Dubai built the club’s first headquarters in Za’abeel. In 1974, Al Orouba and Al Shoula clubs merged with Al Zamalek to form Al Wasl Sports Club.
Al Wasl Football Club, nicknamed The Emperor, has won various titles since then and currently has the largest fanbase in the country.

- The top scorer is Fahd Khamis with 175 goals during his time in the league. Other top scorers include Fabio de Lima and Nassir Khamis.
- Al Wasl Club has maintained a dominant position in the league for 11 seasons consecutively, which no other team in the country has achieved so far.
- It was awarded the title of club of the century for the 20th century by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) in 2010.
