About the Al Ghazal Golf Club
One of the best 18-hole golf courses in Abu Dhabi, this club opened in 1997, with the course itself spanning 6711 yards of unique landscape, offering a fun challenge for both newbie and experienced golfers. The golf course is built around an ancient coastline that was previously an archaeological site.
The golf course is proudly sustainable, so golfers use a piece of artificial grass when playing from the fairways. There are no greens at Al Ghazal Golf Club, there are browns. Made by compacting rolled and treated sand, these browns provide a remarkably true putting surface.
Rules of the Club
- To avoid the browns from being scuffed up, flat shoes (not golf shoes or trainers) must be worn.
- On the browns, players drag a broom after them to clean up their footsteps and smooth the floor.
- The hole is nicely surrounded by several circles for the next players! At each hole, brooms are readily available.
- Players should access the browns via the stairwell or a gradual slope, rather than trekking up the steep edges.
- In general, your artificial grass can only be used in the fairways, although that “rule” is up to the discretion of the players.
- It’s best to use yellow golf balls because they’re easier to identify on the sand.
