STREET ART

AJMAN MUSEUM
Built from gypsum and coral stone, Ajman Museum (or the Ajman Fort Museum) is another excellent attraction in the district. It has managed to preserve ancient manuscripts, old wooden dhows and ingenious irrigation systems. The 18th-century fort used to host the Ajman ruling family. It has two watchtowers, two wind towers (barjeels) and a palace.

SOUQ SALEH
Facing the famous Ajman Museum, Souq Saleh is a hidden gem of the emirate. It was established in the early 1950s and is one of Ajman’s oldest marketplaces. You can find exotic fragrances of spice and incense displayed in the broad passageways, which are roofed with palm fronds. Products available inside the souq range from finely embroidered clothes and Moroccan kaftans to luxurious jalabiyas and handcrafted leather goods.
AL MIZAN
Al Mizan is the centrepiece of the Ajman Historical District. Inspired by Arabic calligraphy, the sculpture symbolises culture and generosity. It is the masterpice of El Seed, an internationally renowned French-Tunisian artist. El Seed also designed another famous art piece that is displayed in Sharjah.
KOUB CAFE
In the middle of this tranquil space is a hip cafe called Koub. Aside from excellent hot and cold beverages, you can find a selection of cakes, brownies and tasty sandwiches in this eatery. It looks like an old traditional Emirati house and is a perfect stop after a fun-filled trip to the heritage sites.
