Your guide to the Abu Dhabi Sports Council
Sports play an integral role in ensuring that communities stay fit and bringing people together, which is why every country invests in sporting infrastructure at a local level. One such government entity is the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, or the ADSM, which hosts sporting events in the emirates. Let’s learn about this organisation, its vision and the list of upcoming events.
About Abu Dhabi Sports Council
Abu Dhabi Sports Council, or ADSC, was established in 2006 by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The President of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi. Its goal is to enhance Abu Dhabi’s sports and youth activities by promoting a quality calendar and encouraging talented individuals to reach their potential. Like the Dubai Sports Council, ADSC organises major sporting events in the UAE capital.
ADSC runs sports clubs in Abu Dhabi for many activities, from ballet and billiards to bowling and chess. They also have an accelerator programme for universal access to inclusive sports programmes to encourage People of Disabilities (PODs) to engage in sports. Called Move United, this programme aims to foster social inclusion and improve their quality of life.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council believes that sporting events create opportunities for various groups, making them an important aspect of our society. With major events such as the Abu Dhabi Run & Ride, ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2024, Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix and more under their belt, they have a proven track record of hosting energy-packed events.
