Sensing Memory Summer Program at Alserkal Avenue
If you’re looking for fun things to do in Dubai in August 2018, our first feature is something that has something for everyone. First up on our list of the latest events in August 2018 is a summer program being hosted by Alserkal Avenue. Dubbed as Sensing Memory, this is the third edition of the Avenue’s annual summer program. As part of the summer program, there are multiple events happening in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue. This includes a series of performances, lectures, workshops and seminars that will allow the creative community across the UAE to explore the connection between our senses and memories. The events in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue, which are part of the summer program will run until 15th September 2018.
For the fitness enthusiasts, an interesting workshop to visit at this Dubai event would be the Tai Chi, which is a martial art known for its defence techniques and health benefits. This is a free event in Dubai, that is happening every Saturday from 11 am to 12 pm, however, prior registration is necessary. For others looking to get your creative juices flowing, take a shot at the making your own perfume at the Perfume-making workshop. Here, perfume artist Mona Bassam Haddad will share techniques on how to mix essential oils and perfume powders to create perfumes and match smells with memories and personalities. This is also a free event happening on August 11, 2 pm to 4 pm. The event is limited to 30 participants, so register soon, before places run out.

Mohamed Abdo Concert
Next on our list of August 2018 events in the UAE is a concert in Dubai which will feature the famous Saudi singer, Mohamed Abdo. Mohammed Abdo will be performing all the favourites and his renditions of all the traditional tunes. The Saudi singer rose to fame in 1960, at the age of 12, when he sang in a radio programme called ‘Baba Abbas’. The concert which is happening at the Dubai World Trade Center will mark the end of the Dubai Summer Surprises season. This concert is one of the most anticipated events in Dubai for August 2018, for the Arabic speaking community.

Abu Dhabi Sports Festival
If you’re looking for fun things to do in the UAE, this next feature is a fun one! Amongst all the latest events in the UAE, this event is something for the fitness enthusiasts in Abu Dhabi. Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi is hosting the Abu Dhabi Sports Festival in one of its indoor pavilions this August. The festival will allow fitness and sports enthusiasts to enjoy various sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, tennis. The aim of the festival is to encourage and promote fitness for the residents of Abu Dhabi. This event in Abu Dhabi is open to the public, with open play sessions priced at AED 21 for children between 4 and 16 years of age. Parents, nannies and younger siblings can enter in for free at the open play sessions. The cost of renting a football field is AED 300 per hour and AED 150 per hour for the volleyball court. They also have sports events for ladies only happening on 8 and 15 of August.

GAMING FESTIVAL AT YAS MALL
Gamers get ready! The Abu Dhabi Yas Mall and Yas Island, in partnership with IGN will be opening a gaming paradise for gamers to attend. The Yas Gaming Festival celebrates the gaming culture and will allow gamers and visitors to enjoy an immersive virtual reality experience. The festival will feature originals like Pac Man, Super Mario, Sonic The Hedgehog, and also the latest games on the Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox stations like FIFA 18 and The Legend of Zelda. Combining these gaming stations with hands-on-play, tournaments, workshops and stage shows, this Abu Dhabi event guarantees fun for all the family. The gaming festival starts right around the Eid weekend, so its a must visit if you’re looking for something to do for the Eid Al Adha holidays.

NICKELODEON EXPO
For the first time ever, Abu Dhabi will be hosting a Nickelodeon Expo where parents and kids can see their favourite Nickelodeon characters like Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob SquarePants come to life. This 10-day event in Abu Dhabi will feature live shows, parades and activities where kids can meet and interact with their favourite characters. This event is the perfect spot for anyone looking for fun events in Abu Dhabi for the whole family.
