Zone 2 is one of the several housing zones in Mohammed Bin Zayed City (MBZ). MBZ City or Zayed City is a residential community located at the edge of Abu Dhabi. Given its prime location on the mainland, MBZ provides easy access to central Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The area is peaceful and secure — an ideal retreat for families looking for residences away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
One of the several zones in MBZ City, Zone 2 mainly consists of villas. A number of properties here are still under construction while the rest are ready for residents to move in. The sub-community is close to Abu Dhabi International Airport and popular locations like Yas Island and Downtown Abu Dhabi. Zone 2 is bordered by four two-way streets called Al Basi Street, Al Shadini Street, Al Fan Street and Al Shaghameem Street. The residential zone has a well-connected street network within and around the community. Additionally, the area is also within close proximity to local schools, supermarkets and healthcare facilities.

Dominant by villas and villa compounds, the community also has vertical stay facilities within its premises. The area also features a few commercial properties to facilitate the residents. The interested tenants can look through the studio, 1-bed and 2-bed apartments available for rent. People who prefer linear accommodations can check 4 and 5-bedroom standalone villas in MBZ City. These come with private parking spaces and in some cases, a separate barbeque area.
Residents won’t be short of parking spaces in Zone 2. Most properties here offer covered parking areas for vehicles.
Al Shadini Street is a two-way primary road running along the southern border of the community. The street is marked with a few bus stops that residents can quickly access.
However, for residents who don’t own private vehicles, there is always the option of hiring local taxis or ride-hailing services to get around the city.
While there aren’t any supermarkets in Zone 2 precisely, there are several in the rest of Zayed City.
Operating since 1981, Abu Dhabi COOP is a popular mart chain in the capital of UAE. The nearest COOP supermarket is located in Zone 7 of MBZ City. Apart from edible goods and groceries, the supermarket also features a wide variety of household products.
Other supermarkets near the sub-community include Lemar Supermarket in Zone 14 and Fresco Supermarket in Mussafah.
There is only one mosque in this area, Ber Alwaleydein Mosque which is in the centre of the town.
Mosques near Zone 2 include Masjid Sa’d ibn Ubadah in Zone 1, Masjid Muhammed Bin Harib in Zone 6 and Masjid Al-Abrar in Zone 8. All these mosques are located within a 5-minute radius.
The nearest church The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located in Mussafah a drive of 10-minutes. Other places of worship near Zone 2 include The Armenian Church of Abu Dhabi, All Saints Anglican Church and St. Elias Cathedral. The Armenian Church of Abu Dhabi is listed among the prominent churches in Abu Dhabi.
Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji is a Sikh gurdwara near Zone 2. It is located in Mussafah Industrial a drive of 14-minutes. To facilitate Hindu residents, there is the BAPS Hindu Temple in Al Sharia at a drive of about half an hour.

Located in Zone 17 6-minutes away, the Abu Dhabi International Private School MBZ is a private K-12 school and is licensed by the UAE Ministry of Education. In addition to an American program, this institute provides students with the opportunity to progress through a British (IGCE and A levels) and an International Baccalaureate Program (IBDP).
High schools nearby include The Cambridge High School. Also located in MBZ 6-minutes away, this institute offers a British curriculum and accommodates students from age 4 to 18. The Model School, located a 12-minute drive away, offers classes from pre-primary to higher secondary.

A 4-minute drive away in Zone 1, Archer Medical Centre offers cosmetic and dermatological treatments as well as other services. Located 14-minutes away, Mediclinic Al Mussafah offers a range of primary health services for families from ENT to services in radiology, paediatrics, family medicine, general surgery and more.
For more extensive services, drive 9-minutes north to NMC Royal Family Medical Centre. This hospital offers an impressive range of treatments from Embryology and Genetics to psychology and speech therapy. Bareen International Hospital is one of the top hospitals in Abu Dhabi.

MBZ doesn’t have a lot of malls. However, those located within the community offer a range of brands to satisfy residents. Malls near Zone 2 include:
Reachable within a 13-minute drive via 28th Street, Dalma Mall is one of the largest malls in Abu Dhabi. In addition to a food court, it also offers a variety of brands like Carrefour, Debenhams, H&M, Samsonite, GAP, Mothercare, and Giordano to name a few.
Mazyad Mall is located 8-minutes away via Al Athr Street and also features popular brands in fashion, a hypermarket and even banking services. Examples include Lulu Express, Giordano, Adidas, Lulu International Exchange, and more.

In addition to various popular food outlets in neighbouring malls, there are also other eateries that residents can go to. There is the Golden Sheep Restaurant 5-minutes away, a popular eatery which offers seafood, an assortment of snacks and other culinary delights.
MBZ is far from Abu Dhabi’s coast; approximately 25-minutes away. Beaches near Zone 2 include Al Qurm Beach which is a 24-minute drive away. This quiet beach features a small cafeteria and is perfect for walks along the shore, barbecues or just enjoying the weather. A 26-minute drive will take one to Al Bateen Beach, a more populous area renowned for beachside activities like basking, fishing, swimming and kayaking. In addition to washroom and shower facilities, this beach also offers Jet Ski rentals.

Residents looking to tee off in the city’s best golf courses can visit the Abu Dhabi Golf Club — located a 14-minute drive away. For sportier activities, head north to the Al Forsan International Sports Resort 19-minutes away via Al Ain Road. This resort offers golf lessons from trained specialists for people new to the sport. Residents looking for more educational leisure activities can visit the Mangrove National Park, 22-minutes away. Home to over 60 species of birds, the park offers kayaking as well as other water-based activities for visitors.

There is a sports club, MBZ Swimming Pool with an Olympic-sized pool located 12-minutes south in Zayed City. This is pretty convenient for residents to visit during the hot summer months.
There is a children’s park with a play area for basketball 11-minutes away in Zone 19. Adjacent to that lies Mohammed Bin Zayed City Public Park, a larger park which features jogging tracks and basketball and football courts.
Home Fitness for Ladies is a ladies gym in Zone 19 at a drive of 12-minutes. One of the best gyms in Abu Dhabi, Gold’s Gym is located 5-minutes away in Mazyad Mall. It offers a diverse selection of scheduled group fitness classes. Body Care Gym and Fitness located 8-minutes away offers trainers in addition to basic gym amenities like shower facilities.

Residents can head to 212 Salon for basic beauty services. The salon is located at a drive of only 9-minutes in Musaffah. Claire De Lune Spa and Salon for Ladies is located in Zone 1 a drive of 4-minutes and opens at 9:30 a.m. For other options, head out to La Riche Spa Lounge 3-minutes away.
There aren’t any events scheduled in this sub-community or Zayed City. However, residents can always visit other places in Abu Dhabi to take part in events. Residents can also visit the Emirates Palace for its many cultural festivals.
