Carrefour Hypermarket has a large selection of imported and local products, it is part of Al Saggar Mall. Spinneys is preferred for its fresh imported produce and bakery section. SPAR Supermarket is part of Abu Dhabi Coop Society where residents can buy groceries at discounted rates. There is also a huge selection of frozen vegetables and meats. SPAR supermarket is a complete grocery chain that has it all. Next, ZOOM is a mini-mart perfect for when you need to shop on the go.
In a short drive of 12-minutes, you will come across the community of Al Mushrif. Here, you will find 10 additional churches that are dedicated to the different sects within Christianity. Notable options include St. Joseph’s Cathedral, St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Abu Dhabi and St. Andrew’s Church.

Additionally, there are three other mosques in Zayed Sports City including Abdul Jalil Mohammed Al Fahim Mosque, Hassan Bin Thabit Mosque and Ibn Taymiyyah Mosque.
The only school in Zayed Sports City is Falcon British Nursery. However, just 7 minutes away, you’ll find a decent selection of schools near Embassies District. Here you’ll find Lycée Louis Massignon, The American International School, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Bangladesh Islamia Private School and a few others.
Out of all these schools, the most popular is The American International School, it follows a teaching methodology that combines American standards with an international curriculum. Lycée Louis Massignon is also a reputed school offering the French curriculum.
University options nearby include Rabdan Academy near the Embassies District and the Abu Dhabi School of Management near Al Qurm Gardens.
There are five clinics in Zayed Sports City. These also include specialized clinics focusing on dentistry and psychiatry. A few options include the British Neurology Psychiatry Center, Al Taie Center For Laparoscopic & Obesity Surgery and Imperial College London Diabetes Center which is part of the large Healthpoint clinic.
When it comes to hospitals in Zayed Sports City, there is a fair share of large medical facilities to choose from. For instance, there is a Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital and Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital.
Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi is bordered by Diplomatic Area to the west, Hills Abu Dhabi to the south, Al Bateen Airport to the north and Khor Al Maqtaa to the east. The communities of Rawdhat, Al Aman and Al Maqtaa are also easily reachable.
There is a small community mall in Zayed Sports City called Al Saggar Mall. For those who want a complete shopping, dining and entertainment experience, they could take a 10-minute drive north and visit Al Seef Village Mall right next to Al Bateen Executive Airport. Al Seef Village Mall has a food court with a variety of restaurants and cafés to choose from. There is also a gaming zone and a children’s play area.

It is a pub with an expansive food menu located in The International Tennis Centre.
There are also the restaurants part of the Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi. You can visit Noche Chill-Out Lounge for South American dishes, Oceana for its buffet or ala carte options or Rouge to try out upscale Asian cuisine. For a more laidback experience, there is The Link Cafe and the Pool Bar & Terrace.
One perk of living in Zayed Sports City is its proximity to some of the most prestigious beaches in the UAE. For instance, the closest beach is Al Qurm Beach, just 9 minutes away. One of the most visited public beaches in Abu Dhabi is Al Bateen Beach. It is a well-managed beach with dedicated lifeguards always on standby, public toilets, showers, food stalls, kid’s play areas and grassy areas which are ideal for picnicking.
One of the biggest landmarks has to be the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. However, before you can visit this mosque, there are certain rules you will be required to follow. There is a dress code as modest clothes are preferred. Ladies also need to wear a headscarf, if they do not have one they can use one of the abayas that the mosque provides for visitors.
The community is also a landmark on its own, it has the large Zayed Sports City Stadium which can house over 44,000 spectators. The International Tennis Centre encompasses nine tennis courts, an outdoor stadium with capacity for 5,000 seats, event space and two exhibition tennis courts. Zayed Sports City Ice Rink is the only Olympic sized ice rink in Abu Dhabi, it has 1,280 seats. There is the Mubadala Pavillion which consists of private indoor event space. There are also rugby and football training pitches. There are 20 natural grass pitches with floodlights for those who want to play at night. There are three regulation rugby pitches and one softball pitch.
Zayed Sports City also has three basketball pitches, three courts for beach volleyball or beach tennis, Abu Dhabi’s biggest billiards hall and Abu Dhabi’s biggest bowling centre. Boxing, cycling, football, golf, paintball and netball can also be practiced conveniently.
The perfect place to live in for those who enjoy an active and outdoorsy type of lifestyle. Apart from the many sports amenities, there are several parks with recreational facilities for outdoor activities. For instance, there is the Zayed Sports City Park. Formerly known as Old Airport Garden, it is one of the best public parks in Abu Dhabi. The park has a wide range of amenities such as shaded walkways and play areas for children.
Al Khaleej Al Arabi Park is another popular park nearby. It has a kid’s play area with a padded ground, vast open grassy areas and barbecue facilities. The park even has a water fountain and a jumping castle for kids to enjoy. There is also a small café in the park for visitors who would like to end the day with some refreshments.
If you don’t like playing a sport there are gym facilities at a hand’s length. Residents in Rihan Heights have access to the gym within their building. There is a branch of Elite Fitness Ladies, Lifeline Wellness and Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club right outside the community. Salons and spas in the area include Pause Salon & Spa, Estetica Salon and Dreamworks Spa. For yoga classes, one can head to The Room Abu Dhabi. The experienced trainers at The Room conducts one of the best yoga classes in Abu Dhabi. It also has a cafeteria, community space and a library.
One thing to keep in mind is the availability of residential units in this area. For one, you won’t find any villas for rent or sale. Also, at the moment, there is no option for freehold properties. In addition to all this, if you commute by relying on public transportation this may not be ideal. One of the best means of getting to and from Sports City is to have your vehicle.
