As the name suggests, The Sustainable City by Diamond Developers is one of the popular eco-friendly areas in Dubai. Established in 2015, the nature-friendly project is the first zero-energy development in the United Arab Emirates located on Al Qudra Road. Residential properties in The Sustainable City are built to conserve energy. However, the community has not compromised on the extravagance of the homes or lifestyle amenities.

Many sustainable development projects in the UAE have been announced recently. The thoughtful purpose is to ensure a healthy future for residents and the environment. The Sustainable City is about 18 miles away from central Dubai in Dubailand. Its construction started in 2013, and the area has been thriving with a range of exclusive residential units ever since.

Residents are highly encouraged to use public transport, horse buggies and drive electrically-charged cars to reduce pollution. About 250 charging stations are installed in The Sustainable City Dubailand for electric vehicles. The Sustainable City in Dubailand is one of the freehold areas in Dubai. It encompasses 500 villas in its development plan. The 113-acre city has divided villas into five residential clusters. Each cluster is adjoined to one urban farm. The elongated urban farm forms Central Green Spine, incorporating 11 bio-dome greenhouses. The total capacity of urban farming is over 3,000 sq. m.

As for the rental properties in Sustainable City, one may choose between a wide range of villas, townhouses and apartments. In contrast, the options are limited to 3-bed and 4-bed villas for investors. Clusters 1 and 2 are the top areas for renting villas in Sustainable City.

Since the development of the residential units is based on energy conservation, using natural resources reduces your electricity and water bills by 50%. Besides solar panels, each house is built with insulated walls, leading to energy generation, resulting in 25 to 30 kilowatts of power in an hour. Along with this, the residential units come with a plan for recycling water and waste.

In terms of space, villas for rent in The Sustainable City are pretty expansive; the largest 3-bedroom house is around 3,400 sq. ft. The largest 4-bedroom villa offers a living area of nearly 5,600 sq. ft.

Residents quickly access the Dubai public transportation such as buses. F32 and J02 buses pass through The Sustainable City Main Entrance Bus Stop, which is located at the entrance and exit point of the community.

The Sustainable City Dubailand has a Zoom Supermarket, a convenience store best for daily necessities. There is a Carrefour Market in Arabian Ranches Souk and Geant Express in the Mudon community. The Layan community also features Choitrams and Geant Express.

As the community promotes an eco-friendly environment, residents are encouraged to grow their vegetables in urban farms. Also, they have the liberty to enjoy locally grown produce, promoting a self-sufficient lifestyle.

The Sustainable City has reserved a place for a mosque in the community. Another mosque, Masjid Salam, is only 11 minutes away from the area.

There are no temples and churches within the development. However, church-going residents can visit Casa De Oracion Torre Fuerte, a 20-minute drive away. Shiv Temple, located on Al Fahidi Street, is a 38-minute drive away. For the Sikh residents, Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Gurdwara is 29 minutes away from the community.

The master development is home to the Fairgreen International School which follows the International Baccalaureate Curriculum. Dibber Nurseries follows the Norwegian curriculum with holistic and interactive learning approaches. It takes admission from birth until four years. The branch in Sustainable City has nine spacious classrooms, two shaded outdoor play areas, multiple greenfield spaces and a play area.

For higher education options, universities in the Dubai International Academic City are a 20-minute drive away. As for students looking for colleges, Brighton College is 15 minutes away, and Dubai College is a 22-minute drive away.

Clinics in The Sustainable City Dubailand offer specialised medical services. Miami Autism Rehabilitation Center in The Sustainable City Plaza and The Chiron Clinic offer an alternative approach to medicine. Also nearby within the community of Arabian Ranches 2 are the Aster Medical Center and Aster Clinic.

The residents can also commute to Emirates Hospital, which is approximately 13-minutes away and Medcare Medical Centre, which is about 15 minutes away.

The development is based in the suburbs; so, it may take time to commute to the central area of the emirate. Built alongside Arabian Ranches, close to Mudon, the Layan and Al Waha communities, the energy-efficient community is 15 minutes away from the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club.

As for options outside the community, the fine-dining eatery Palermo and Freedom Pizza are 9 minutes away. McDonald’s drive-thru and Starbucks are about 10 minutes away for a quick grab-and-go.

Also, there is a variety of restaurants in The Sustainable City which are known for providing early breakfasts in Dubai such as Sanderson’s and Spill The Bean.

The project is far away from the coastline. So, it may take some time for residents to get to a beach. Jumeirah Public Beach, Al Sufouh Beach, Sunset Beach and many others require a commute of about 25 to 30 minutes.

The self-sustaining community has shops, cafes, restaurants, offices and apartments. Residents need not leave the area to enjoy a relaxing time-out. Many utilities are located in The Sustainable Plaza, covering 15,000 sq. m. The building comprises five low-rise blocks offering various services, including clinics, tutoring centres, spas, interactive activities for kids, and others.
