Mazyad Fort is a notable landmark located close to the Jebel Hafeet Tombs. It was built in the 19th century for use as a border post and a police station. The fort was also garrisoned by Trucial Oman Scouts in the 1950s. The layout and size of Mezyad Fort are quite similar to Al Jahili Fort, which is one of the popular places in Abu Dhabi to visit for free. It is located on Sultan Bin Zayed Al Awwal Street. Mezyad Fort has 44 rooms and a courtyard used as a border post. The fort was restored in the 1980s and the courtyard was transformed into a date plantation area.
