Dubai Islands is a mixed-use waterfront development in Dubai. It is a cluster of five islands spanning an area of 17 sq. kms. The five islands are named as Marina Island, Central Island, Shore Island, Golf Island and Elite Island.
The project was formerly known as Deira Islands, but was rebranded as Dubai Islands in August 2022. It is in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. This plan provides a comprehensive roadmap for the city’s upcoming developments over the next 19 years, emphasizing sustainable development.
Dubai Island is one of the multibillion manmade islands in Dubai. Once completed, this destination will have wellness resorts, eco-friendly and luxury hotels and renowned shopping destination, Souk Al Marfa. The developers aim to increase the length of beaches and areas dedicated to public parks.
The area is directly accessible from the mainland via road and sea. Visitors will have access to a highly interconnected system of marina promenades and pathways for both water and road transportation, as well as walking and cycling.

Dubai Islands will be one of the best tourist places in Dubai once it is fully operational. Nakheel has joined hands with a few international hospitality brands to bring new tourism concepts to Dubai. Like all other megaprojects by the developer, Dubai Islands has a well-planned road infrastructure, walkways, parking and entertainment venues. A 600 metre, 12-lane bridge connects residents to Deira district located on the other side of the coastline. With three road bridges running over the Water Canal, the development is easily accessible via road and waterways.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently signed an agreement with Nakheel to construct a new bridge that connects Bur Dubai and Dubai Islands. The project will include direct entry and exit points on the Bur Dubai side, connected by a bridge spanning the Creek between the Infinity Bridge and the Port Rashid Development Project. This bridge, which is 1,425 meters long, contains four lanes in each direction, offering a combined capacity of 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
Souk Al Marfa Deira bus stop is serviced by bus SM1. It is accessible at a 9-minute drive. Gold Souq Metro Station on Green line is reachable at an 11-minute drive away.

Amna Bint Wahab is among the best government schools for girls in Dubai. It offers secondary education from Grade 10 to Grade 12 for girls aged 15 to 18. It is located at Deira, at a 13-minute drive by car.
The Elite English School is a private K-12 school for students aged 3 to 17 years old. It follows the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum. It is located next to the Sabari Indian School on 34 B Street in Al Wuheida.
Little Flower English School was established as an exclusive Kindergarten and Primary school in Hor Al Anz, at an 14-minute drive away. It offers classes from KG1 to Grade 6.
Currently, there are no hospitals or clinics around the area. However, Dubai Islands is conveniently connected to the mainland where one can find many options. There are many hospitals in Deira, easily accessible via the bridge. Some notable options include Dubai Hospital and Kuwait Hospital at a 12-minute drive away.
Dubai Islands is next to Deira and Al Mamzar Dubai. Connected to Deira Corniche and the central district via road bridges, the island is also close to Al Mamzar Beach Park and Al Hamriya Port.
Souk Al Marfa is a wholesale marketplace developed by DP World and Nakheel Malls. It feature small kiosks, showrooms, retail stores and street food markets. Spanning 3.1 million square feet, it features four different villages. Once fully completed, these villages will be home to over 1,000 retail stores, loading docks for trucks and 3,200 parking spots. The souk also have an authentic Thai Market that offers Thai food, clothing and handicrafts. There are ferry and abra stations at Souk Al Marfa for an easy commute. You can also use the free shuttle service provided by the souk.
There are numerous restaurants in Souq Al Marfa. These include Al Tayar Al Jadeed Restaurant, Bait Al Zain Mandi Restaurant, Dosa Express, Hadiqat Al Shay, Helw Al Shai, Hong Kong Restaurant, Juice Hut and Marfa Biryani to name a few.

Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai also offers plenty of adventures thanks to a shoreside souk, a waterpark and seven dining venues. Hotel RIU Dubai also offers swimming pools, a spa, themed restaurants and the Splash Water World Waterpark.
The long boulevard that connects the residential area to the mall has many amenities like swimming pools, tennis courts and parking spaces. Also, Deira Central will feature many family recreational facilities like multifunctional sports courts, skateparks, playgrounds, fitness facilities and parks.
Dubai Islands mostly targets the tourists and those looking for a new getaway spot in Dubai. Once completed, it will be a complete holiday destination with premium residential options.
The cluster of four Dubai Islands was initially named as Palm Deira. Later, Nakheel re-engineered the plan and introduced Deira Island in October 2008 with the mainland featuring a host of luxury properties, hotels, and restaurants. The project is now called Dubai Islands.
Palm Jebel Ali remains as a long-term megaproject. As confirmed by the developer, Nakheel, the construction has not yet started.
