Al Shamkha is a residential neighbourhood located far from central Abu Dhabi. On the north-eastern side, it borders the major highway in UAE, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road (E311). Along the northern length of the community, Sweihan Road leads towards the outskirts of Abu Dhabi.

Al Shamkhah Abu Dhabi is strategically located closer to the industrial area of Mussafah. The residential community is currently under development. It will be home to around 22,000 people when it is completed.

Al Shamkha is one of the most popular freehold areas in Abu Dhabi. Some areas around the community were redeveloped in 2016. The Municipality of Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Housing Authority has overseen the development of residential plots within the area. Many projects are still under development and should be completed soon as Al Shamkha is part of the strategic 2030 vision for Abu Dhabi.

Due to the recent construction, many communal facilities such as schools, commercial spaces, health facilities, parks, entertainment options, cycle lanes and mosques have been added.

Apartments, stand-alone villas or townhouses, there are various properties for rent in Shamkha you can choose from. The low-rise residential buildings consist of two to three floors. Apartments come in studio to 4-bedroom configurations. These residential units have master bedrooms, full bathrooms, a spacious hall living room, a spacious kitchen and a balcony.

On the other hand, one can find large standalone villas recently constructed based on contemporary architectural styles. These villas are available in 2 to 11-bedroom configurations. Based on the bed types, the essential property features include a huge kitchen, a maid’s room, a laundry room, a living room with a bathroom, a spacious Majlis with a dining room and a bathroom, a wide garden and a shaded car parking space. The number of master bedroom and bathrooms vary according to the bed types.

Residents living in villas here will not have trouble with car parking as there is covered parking in Al Shamkha for one and sometimes even multiple cars. There is underground covered car parking available for apartment owners but this is normally limited to one space per unit. Those with more than one vehicle or visitors in the area will have to find street parking.

When it comes to transportation in Al Shamkha, you can get a cab. To travel via bus you will have to drive for more than 20 minutes to reach the bus stop in Mussafah Community. These bus stops are Mussafah, Al Ain University S&T 1, Mussafah, Al Najah Private School 1 and Mussafah, Al Mussafah Park 1.

Al Shamkhah Abu Dhabi meets all the basic needs of its residents as many amenities are nearby. The area is close to supermarkets, mosques, schools and has easy access to major road networks.

Residents of the community can find many grocery shopping options as many popular supermarkets and baqalas (small grocery stores) are within the community. Madina Al Shamikha, Noor Al Izdihar Supermarket, Heely City Baaqla, Happy Home Grocery, SPAR hypermarket and Zenith Supermarket are few popular supermarkets in Al Shamkha.

Lulu Xpress Freshmarket is also located in Al Shawamekh about a 12-minute drive from Al Shamkha.

There are many popular mosques in Al Shamkha. Habeeb Bin Zaid Mosque is a beautifully designed mosque in the neighbourhood. It is located within walking distance from the centre of Al Shamkha. Other mosques such as Abu Sa’eed Mosque, SH-16 Central Mosque, Sheikh Mansoor Mosque and many more are located nearby.

There are a few churches near Al Shamkha. They are found in the community of Mussafah. St. Paul’s Church, Mar Thoma Church Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Assembly Of God Church and The Armenian Church are some of the finest churches in Abu Dhabi, located approximately 20 minutes away from Shamkha. Also located in Mussafah is the New Gurudwara Abu Dhabi, a Sikh place of worship.

The upcoming BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is a 19-minute drive by car. Since it is in its developmental phases, Hindu residents can visit Randdepa AUH temple in Zone 17, MBZ City at a 21-minute drive by car.

Currently, there are only two nurseries in Al Shamkha, Barney Home Nursery and Small Stars Nursery.

Moving to the area with your family is a great option as there are many popular schools in Al Shamkha. Here, one can also find a few of Abu Dhabi’s top American schools including Al Yasat Private School. It offers the American curriculum from kindergarten to Grade 10.

Al Reeyada International School is located a 6-minute drive from Al Shamkha. It follows the British curriculum until Year 13. Wales International School in Shamkha teaches the National Curriculum of England from KG1 to Grade 12.

Various other schools are also in the area such as Al Asalah Primary School, Al Tafawwoq School, Al Hosn Secondary School and Al Taqadum School.

Nearby top universities in Abu Dhabi include Abu Dhabi University in Mussafah, Zayed University near Khalifa City A and Khalifa University’s campus in Masdar City. All three of these reputable universities can be reached in 20 minutes or less.

In case of a medical emergency, the residents can find numerous clinics in Al Shamkha. Burjeel Medical Center, Sama Al Shamkha Medical Center and Shamkha Medical Center are located in the neighbourhood.

The closest hospitals can be found in the community of Baniyas, roughly 15 minutes away. You can find a few of Abu Dhabi’s most notable general hospitals including Mafraq Hospital and Al Salama One Day Surgery Centre in Baniyas.

Moreover, it is a pet-friendly community. One can find some of Abu Dhabi’s top animal rescue services and pet hospitals within Al Shamkha including Falcon Hospital and Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter.

Al Falah City, a new community is located to the north of Al Shamkha and is currently under construction. It is a master-planned project composed of five residential villages and a town centre. Every village will accommodate around 1000 villas and amenities such as schools, retail stores, mosques and recreational facilities.

The residential area of Al Shawamekh is located to the southwest of Al Shamkhah Abu Dhabi. It is planned to be a self-sufficient community with a large number of villas and apartments providing affordable residences. Other neighbours of Al Shamkha include the community of Baniyas, which has many sports facilities and recreational amenities.

Makani Al Shamkha Shopping Centre is one of the best malls in Al Shamkha. The small community mall stocks a wide range of local fashion, jewellery, household and electronics products. Al Shamkha Mall is currently under development and is expected to be a popular shopping destination when it is complete.

Larger shopping destinations nearby include Bawabat Al Sharq Mall in Baniyas and Mazyad Mall in Mohammed Bin Zayed City. One of the top shopping malls in Abu Dhabi, Dalma Mall is also in proximity. All of these malls are accessible within 20-minutes by car.

This place is perfect for food enthusiasts who love to try different restaurants and a variety of food chains. In Makani Al Shamkha Shopping Centre you will find Gazebo Restaurant, Maroosh Restaurant, Nabras al Shaebi Restaurant and a few other casual dining restaurants. Fast food outlets such as Subway and McDonald’s and cafes like Cafe 71 and 9Bar Cafe are also present in the mall.

Another popular eatery is Tea Time Cafeteria, it serves a variety of wraps, shawarmas and teas that people can enjoy during casual late-night outings. There is a food truck area in Al Shamkha near Al Yasat Private School, mainly serving burgers and street food items. Popular options include Street Bites, 21 Emarati Cafe, Kbhz & Karak and Ybala Karak.

Fine-dining restaurants, licensed eateries and nightlife options will be found in Downtown Abu Dhabi, a 40-minute drive away.

Al Shamkha does not have direct access to the sea. But if you want to spend a weekend on the beach, luxurious beaches near Al Shamkha are approximately at a 30-minute drive. One of the best beaches in Abu Dhabi, Yas Beach which is part of Yas Island is a beautiful public beach away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Al Raha Beach offers a panoramic view of the coastline but it is a private beach that requires paid admission. If you are looking for another public beach you can visit Al Bateen Beach, which offers stunning views of Al Hudayriat Island.

The lifestyle in Al Shamkha is simple and people enjoy spending their time visiting the nearby malls and supermarkets. People who love sports can head to Baniyas Sports and Culture Club to participate in many tournaments and sports activities. People also enjoy a stroll at the parks within the community and spend time with their families. Visiting casual food stalls and restaurant chains is also a common activity in Al Shamkha.

If you enjoy keeping yourself fit, you can visit the Fit Professional Gym in Makani Al Shamkha Shopping Centre. There is a branch of Fitness First in the Bawabat Al Sharq Mall. Arabian Village Gym which has a swimming pool is located in Al Reef, 12 minutes away.

Ladies can visit Rose Gold Beauty Salon and Nayomi Beauty Salon in Al Shamkah. Gents can visit Ruby Gents Salon, Al Kous Gents Salon and Golden Star Gents Salon.

The most exciting events in Al Shamkha take place in Makani Al Shamkha Shopping Centre. During the kid’s festival, many fun activities are organised such as African drum performances, arts and crafts events and circus shows. Many other sports tournaments occur yearly in Baniyas, and residents of Al Shamkha can easily witness them.

Al Shamkha offers a simple and affordable lifestyle while keeping you close to many amenities and facilities.
