Al Safa 2

Al Safa 2 is a sub-community within the greater district of Al Safa. The area is home to a few government offices, consulates and medical centres. The block is laced with all amenities to cater to the residents’ needs including mosques, supermarkets and leisure spots. Residential properties in Al Safa mainly consist of independent villas. The sub-district is bordered by wide streets including Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) in the east, Al Manara Road in the south, Umm Al Sheif Road in the north and Al Wasl Road (D92) in the west.

Al Safa 2 is a highly-developed neighbourhood within Dubai and its residential properties are home to both ex-pats and locals. It is also mostly a pet-friendly area but does check with your landlord beforehand if pets are allowed in the property you are considering.

Properties in Al Safa 2 mainly consist of standalone villas which are usually big starting from 4-bedroom layouts. Popular villa options are the 4 and 5-bed units. Al Safa 2 is also home to villas with 6 or more bedrooms; common options include luxury 10-bed houses. Most of the villas in Al Safa 2 come with amenities such as rooms for the house help, landscaped gardens, private swimming pools and barbecue areas.

Like many of its neighbouring areas, Al Safa 2 is also home to a few compound villa communities. Compound villas are often small gated communities in the area. Some of the pros of living in a villa compound are that it offers a safe and secure environment, a tight-knit community and access to shared amenities.

One of the most well-known compounds in Al Safa 2 is Bayti 22, managed by Meraas Group. As the name suggests it is home to 22 villas. The compound features 4-bed villas each with a maid’s room, laundry room and landscaped gardens. The compound also provides access to facilities such as pools, gyms and children’s play areas. The Bayti 22 compound is located close to Al Safa Park 2.

There is also the pet-friendly Al Wasl Village compound which features 26 semi-detached 4-bed villas, each with its own private pool. All villas also have a private garden and terrace, a barbecue area, a laundry room and a maid’s room. Each unit offers 3,206 sq. ft. of living space. The Al Wasl Village villa compound is located along Al Wasl Road, near Spinneys in Al Safa 2.

All of the villas in Al Safa 2 come with at least one dedicated parking space. Larger units come with up to 14 parking spaces and paid street parking spaces are also available outside the units.

As the sub-community is linked to major roads from all sides, there are several bus stops within the borders mainly along Al Wasl Road (D92) to cater to the residents such as Wasl Rawdhat Al Abraar Masjid Bus Stop, Wasl Road 5 Bus Stop and Wasl Road 4 Bus Stop.

ONPASSIVE Subway Station is located along Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and is at a convenient walking distance from any point in the district.

There is no shortage of supermarkets in Al Safa 2. There is a large Spinneys supermarket in Al Safa 2, in the Umm Suqeim Center. Additional amenities at this branch of Spinneys are a recycling facility and a post box. Spinneys is located close to the Al Wasl Village villa compound. There are a few smaller grocery shops in the community such as Asghar Aziz Grocery, Jabal Al Madina Grocery and Rayhan Al Wadi Grocery.

There are several mosques in Al Safa 2. Some examples include Jummah Masjid, Al Hajjah Zinab Mosque, Al Bara’ Bin Aazib Mosque and Umm Yahya Mosque. There is also the large Aisha Butti Al Mulla Masjid near Al Safa Park 2 and the Bayti 22 villa compound.

There are a few churches near Al Safa 2. The nearest option is Emirates Baptists Church International (EBCI), located in the district of Al Barsha 1 and 14-minutes away.

There is no shortage of temples near Al Safa 2. Most of them are located in the Bur Dubai community, which is a 20-minute drive away. Some famous Hindu temples in this community include Shree Krishna Haveli, ShrinathJi Temple and Shiva Temple.  Sikh residents can visit the Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Gurdwara located in the district of Jebel Ali, 20-minutes away.

Yellow Kite Nursery is located in the centre of the community and caters to kids between the ages of 4 months to 4 years. The nursery follows the British EYFS curriculum and provides children with learning zones, innovative facilities and a spacious natural garden to explore.

Residents can also access other nurseries around the neighbourhood such as Toddler Town British Nursery and Little Wonders Nursery. Toddler Town British Nursery also follows the British EYFS curriculum but accepts children from 2 months up to 4 years.

Al Safa 2 is home to Umm Suqeim Girls School which is a public school located next to Al Safa Park 2. Private schools near Al Safa 2 include:

Jumeirah College offers the National Curriculum of England from Year 7 to Year 13. It is known to be one of the best schools in Dubai and is located in Al Safa 1, a 5-minute drive away from Al Safa 2. Located close to Jumeirah College is GEMS Jumeirah Primary School, it also offers the National Curriculum of England but from FS1 to Year 6.

Jumeirah English Speaking School is another popular British curriculum school in the area. It admits students from FS1 to Year 6, it is also located in Al Safa 1, roughly 7-minutes away. Al Ittihad Private School follows the American curriculum from pre-primary to Year 12.

Universities near Al Safa 2 include American University in Dubai, Middlesex University Dubai and the University of Bradford near Dubai Media City, roughly 20-minutes away.

There are several clinics and hospitals near Al Safa 2. For instance, the Medcare Women and Children Hospital is located in the north of the community. Clinics near Al Safa 2 consist of Prime Medical Centre and Samaa Medical Centre, both are located in Al Safa 1. iCare Clinics is located inside the Oasis Mall, located 11-minutes away, it is a great option for patients seeking OPD medical treatments.

For residents concerned about the health and wellness of their pets, British Veterinary Hospital and European Veterinary Centre are located just outside the boundaries of Al Safa 2.

Umm Suqeim 1 lies to the north and it features a similar lifestyle to Al Safa 2. To the east lies the greater vicinity of Al Safa 1 which is known for its excellent school district. Heading south, residents will find the locality of Al Quoz 3. The greater Al Quoz area is home to several art galleries. Going west of the border, there is the district of Al Manara, which is an upscale residential area that has several villas and townhouses. It is also home to a strip of offices and casual dining restaurants.

There is no shortage of malls near Al Safa 2, the Time Square Centre is located at a distance of 10-minutes. It is home to a few retail stores and a large branch of AdventureHQ. Mall of the Emirates is at a distance of 12-minutes, it is one of the most popular malls in Dubai. Oasis Mall is located at a distance of 11-minutes via Sheikh Zayed Road (E11).

There are some great formal and casual dining eateries nearby. For example, the Sul Fiume is just 2-minutes away. It is located in Indigo Building, Exit No. 45, Sheikh Zayed Road (E11). Sul Fiume is famous for its BBQ platters and grilled meats. For those who enjoy authentic vegetarian Indian cuisine, there is the Indian Pavilion Restaurant that serves traditional Indian snacks and vegetarian thalis. One can reach this venue in just 5-minutes heading east. Oasis Restaurant is 6-minutes away and serves fast food.

Nearby licensed facilities include Dhow & Anchor, which is a gastropub located inside the lobby level of Jumeirah Beach Hotel. One can reach this facility in 13-minutes heading northwest. Right next to this facility is the Ocean Blue/Pool Bar. Here residents will find a casual waterfront dining environment with a varied selection of seafood and different types of alcoholic beverages.

Residents can reach over ten public beaches near Al Safa 2 in under 15-minutes. Some popular beaches include the Open Beach, which is located at a 15-minute drive. Another option, Jumeirah Beach, is located at a 13-minute drive. This beach is most frequently visited by western tourists. It also has a dedicated kid’s play area and BBQ stations where residents can have a beach cookout. Other nearby public beaches include Sunset Beach and Kite Beach.

The nearest landmark that offers leisurely activities is the Splash n Party, which is a kid’s water park right within the borders of this sub-community. Another waterpark, Wild Wadi, is a 15-minute drive away. Residents who love bowling would enjoy a few games in one of Dubai’s largest bowling alleys, Dubai International Bowling Centre. This bowling centre is one of the top bowling centres in Dubai.

Parks near Al Safa 2 include Umm Suqeim 1 Park 2, located 6-minutes away. This is a small community park just across Al Wasl Road (D92). There is a basketball court within Safa Park 2 and a kid’s play area with swings, slides and treehouses. 13-minutes away, residents will find the largest park in the district, Safa Park. Children can be seen playing football, cricket and other types of sports in this park.

For people who love to work out, the best place to go is either Gym Giorgia or Fitness First Oasis Centre. Gym Giorgia is located within the community while the Fitness First Oasis Centre is located in Oasis Mall, which can be reached in 11-minutes heading east.

Al Safa is a mix-use neighbourhood and is situated in an older part of Dubai. Residents will find that there are no specific community events. However, community events do take place in nearby malls. Residents can visit these malls and find out about upcoming events.

There is no specific developer for this area. As a result, there are no official social media groups where residents can interact with each other. Residents can join this Facebook group Al Safa 2 Jumeirah Community Group to interact with other residents within the district.

This sub-community is known for high levels of commercial activity. There are several government offices and consulates here. Those who prefer peaceful surroundings might have a little trouble adjusting to this community. But for most people, the convenience of living here outweighs this minor issue.
