They offer a variety of grocery items sufficient for everyday needs. Some of these include Parco Hypermarket, Al Madina Hypermarket and Emirates General Market in Al Dhafra Mall.
Several mosques are around 15 minutes away from the district. These include Mojumaat Juma Masjid, Madinat Al Salam Al Ommaleyyah Masjid and Madinat Hameem Al Sakaneyyah Masjid.
Similarly, churches are located slightly far away in the Musaffah community. The American Church of Abu Dhabi, Prophet Elias Cathedral Greek Orthodox, St. Paul’s Catholic Church and The Mar Thoma Church are some of the churches in Musaffah at a drive of 25 minutes. At the same driving distance, a Sikh temple is located called, Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji.
Since the area is dedicated to industrial and commercial developments, it is unlikely to find any schools in Al Markaz. The schools and kindergartens are located towards the central emirate and the closest ones to the area are Dazzling Stars Nursery, Happy Jump Nursery and Rainbow Nursery.
As for primary and secondary schools, one will find the Creative British School, Shining Star International School, Sunrise English Private School and Private International English School in central Abu Dhabi within a half-hour drive. The Shining Star International School follows the CBSE curriculum for children from KG1 to Grade 12. The school offers a transport service, sports and medical facilities and an in-house café.
Residents can easily access two medical facilities that serve the community. These are Right Health Expert Medical Clinic LLC and Right Health Tabibak Medical Clinic.
As far as hospitals are concerned, one has to travel toward the city to get to the nearest hospital facilities. Mafraq Hospital, Pheonix Hospital and Millennium Hospital near Al Markaz are the closest tertiary care medical centres which require a minimum driving time of about 25 minutes. Mafraq Hospital is a medical facility with a capacity of 451 beds that serves as a referral centre for specialized treatment. On the other hand, Pheonix Hospital is a healthcare facility that operates round the clock, providing continuous services. It has achieved accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI) and boasts an ISO-certified laboratory.
Al Markaz is situated close to the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan International Road (E11) which allows easy access to the neighbouring areas. Neighbouring communities that surround Al Markaz include Al Muqatra, Al Bihouth and Al Dhafra. If you drive towards central Abu Dhabi, you will find Al Wathbah and Mohamed Bin Zayed City. Al Shinayin lies towards the southwest side of Al Markaz.
The nearest mall from the area is Hameem Mall around 13 minutes away. The large Hameem Mall in NBB Workers City offers great deals at discounted prices. The malls boast retail stores which include garments, tech supplies and jewellery items.
You can also visit Baniyas Mall in Baniyas and Mazyad Mall located near the Musaffa community. Baniyas Mall features a Lulu Hypermarket, many casual dining restaurants and retail stores. Mazyad Mall is a one-stop retail, dining and entertainment hub and home to some of the best international and local brands in a variety of product categories such as Adidas, Giordano, Sports Gear, Paperchase, etc.
Dining options are available in the neighbouring communities. Restaurants near Al Markaz include Urban Tadka Restaurant which serves Pakistani food, Asir Al Shouq Restaurant and Rainbow Restaurant offers Indian cuisine. Residents can go to restaurants in Hameem Mall such as Top Twenty Restaurant, Dhaka Smart Restaurant, Baab E Chakwal Restaurant and more. You will also find cafes near the area, such as Chat Point and Falcon Cafeteria.
To visit a beach one has to travel towards the northern side of the emirate. Hameem Beach is the nearest public beach that requires a 17-minute drive. Here you can camp, go fishing or enjoy the beauty of mangroves on the glistening shoreline in complete solitude.
To enjoy tourist hotspots nearby, you can visit the Wathba Wetland Reserve, Emirates National Auto Museum, Al Wathba Long Salt Lake and Al Wathba Fossil Dunes.

Wathba Wetland Reserve is a designated protected area that serves as a sanctuary for a wide variety of bird species, including herons and flamingos. This reserve plays a crucial role in the conservation and preservation of the region’s natural habitats and biodiversity. On the other hand, Al Wathba Fossil Dunes represents a remarkable geological site characterized by ancient dunes that have preserved marine life fossils dating back millions of years.
Some parks and fun activities are found in the neighbouring areas. One will find Al Jazeera Park just 24 minutes away from the area. You will enjoy several outdoor activities like jogging, cycling, and a small picnic in the green spaces and can even arrange small barbecue parties.
Those who love to work out will find gyms in the Shabiya Community. Two of the closest ones are Black Cat Men Gym Club and Muscle Plus Gym; both are roughly 25 minutes away.
Ladies looking for beauty care options will find several salons in the neighbouring communities. Some popular choices are Al Noufal Gents Saloon, Titanic Saloon and Salama Style Beauty Salon. All these salons are a 25 to 30-minute drive away from the community.
Al Markaz, Abu Dhabi is not yet developed for residential purposes. Visitors will have to keep in mind the lack of public transport in the area and rely on cabs for moving around the town.
