The area has several clinics in and around its surrounding neighbourhood. However, the most reputable clinic in Al Khan is Aster Clinic located in the Sultaco Building on King Faisal Street. The closest hospital is the Thumbay Hospital in the Rolla community.

The community lies in close proximity to a few of the most prestigious waterfront neighbourhoods in Sharjah. Al Khan is next to Al Majaz, a serene neighbourhood with its unique calm and peaceful vibe yet a lot of leisure activities for locals and tourists alike. Al Qasba links the two, Al Khan and Al Majaz Waterfront via Qasba Canal.

To the west of Al Khan lies the community of Al Mamzar. To the southwest, you’ll find the districts of Al Taawun and Al Nahda, Sharjah. To its immediate north, there is the Sharjah shoreline. And, immediately east of Al Khan is the locality of Al Majaz 3. Most importantly, residents will find that Al Wahda Street – one of the main road networks within Sharjah – lies directly south of the community.

Shopaholics are never away from their favourite hangout spots. There are two full-fledged malls in Al Khan, the Al Arab Mall and Sharjah Mall. Another retail centre is Matajer Al Khan Mall.

Al Arab Mall

One of the most popular malls in Al Khan is Al Arab Mall. It is located on the Taawun Roundabout close to the Sharjah Expo Centre. Nesto Hypermarket is its anchor store on the ground floor. The mall also has various restaurants in the food court where visitors can enjoy dining at fast food eateries.

Another popular option is Matajer Al Khan Mall which is located behind Al Khaleej Centre, just opposite of Al Qasba while Sharjah Mall is more towards the corniche area. Other nearby malls include Al Safeer Shopping Centre around 12 minutes away and Ansar Mall 13 minutes away on Ittihad Street.

Al Khan is dotted with several eateries serving high-quality, nutritious meals. A few popular restaurants in Al Khan include Delicious Corner, a casual dining establishment offering Indian cuisine. For Arab delicacies, there is Bait Al Mandi Restaurant. Roadhouse Restaurant is also popular, it serves casual western food. Al Khan has several beaches situated near its borders and in the surrounding neighbourhoods. It is home to one of the best beaches in the UAE. Within the community as well, Al Khan Beach is the most popular. On this beach, one can find historical buildings such as ancient watchtowers built as a lookout point for enemy vessels trying to dock on the shores of Al Khan. Today, Al Khan Beach is a hub of fun activities such as wakeboarding, jet skiing, swimming, picnicking and camping. The beach is popular when it comes to bird watching.

Another popular beach – across the border in the emirate of Dubai is Al Mamzar Beach which is just as popular as the latter. This beach has a community pool, Al Mamzar beach park, barbecue area and you can even rent a chalet by the sea.

Al Noor Mosque on Corniche Street is a key landmark close to Al Khan. The stunning white domes gleam even from a far-off area. The mosque is an 11-minute drive away.

A few landmarks within the community include Sharjah Expo Centre and Sharjah Aquarium. Latter is a family-favourite leisure attraction for kids and adults alike. Here, visitors can see over 150 different species of marine life.

Further, the bustling waterfront areas of Al Majaz Waterfront and Al Qasba make weekend evenings even more happening. These offer many activities along the developments as well as many casual dining restaurants.

Outdoor activities in Al Khan will mostly revolve around the local park. One good example is Khalidiya Park in Al Khan where there are plenty of swings, tunnels and jungle gyms for kids to enjoy. The park also has a large shaded area where residents can enjoy the park in the summers. Also, Al Khan residents can enjoy many activities at Al Majaz Park only a short drive away.

Those looking to hit the gym will find that the neighbourhood has several great gyms within its borders. Respectively, the most popular gym within the community is All Stars Gym. It has an indoor pool and all the latest workout equipment one would come to expect from a large fitness centre. Another nearby gymnasium that is popular is Body & Soul Health Club.

The area is always bustling with activities. Al Majaz Waterfront and Al Qasba are located in Al Khan. There are normally carnivals and festivals taking place in these locations. The amazing Sharjah Fringe Festival is also held at a location in Al Qasba on Al Khan Corniche Street. Residents often wait for Sharjah Food Festival at Al Majaz Waterfront and the Sharjah Light Festival which has multiple events directly on Khalid Lagoon.

Al Khan offers waterfront homes and is no doubt a vibrant community. However, if you prefer to spend your weekend nights in bars and clubs, then you won’t find any in Sharjah. For that, you’ll have to drive to Dubai where there are plenty of bars and clubs to choose from as Sharjah is a dry city.
