Al Abar is a quiet residential neighbourhood in Sharjah. Enjoying a prime location just off Cultural Square (Quran Roundabout), it is home to numerous museums and educational institutions. Home to Sharjah Science Museum, Archaeological Museum, Sharjah Library and the Sharjah Cooperative Society, Al Abar is a centre of activities in Halwan Suburb throughout the day. The headquarters of SEWA is also based here. Yet, it is a family-favourite address in Sharjah because all the modern lifestyle facilities (including shops, schools and restaurants) are well within reach.

Others looking to visit a church can head to Al Yarmook, a residential area in Halwan Suburb. The community also caters to diverse educational needs with schools like Far Eastern Private School (Philippine curriculum), Al Mawahib British Private School (British curriculum), German International School Sharjah, and French International Private School. Additionally, Rosary School and Sharjah Private School are conveniently located in Al Abar.

Dr Amal Al Qedrah Medical Center, Areej Medical Center, Shiyas & Ifthikar Medical Centre, Al Wazn Al Methali Medical Center and Aster Clinic are all part of Al Abar community.

Al Qassimi Hospital on Wasit Street is accessible within 5 minutes. It is a reputed hospital with OPD clinics. Moreover, one can get their medicines from LIFE Pharmacy within the community.

The community is close to Cultural Square. The network of main roads makes it easier for residents to access the Sharjah Industrial Area and Halwan Suburb. Dasman, Samnan and Al Khezamia are its immediate neighbours. Al Fayha is also close by.

Wasit Center in the neighbouring community of Al Khazamia is the nearest shopping mall. There are many shops in Wasit Center. It is also home to some eateries and mobile shops. Moreover, Samnan Mall in Samnan community is also close by and accessible within 5 minutes by car. Other shopping malls near Al Abrar include Oasis Mall in Al Ghubaiba and Ramez Mall in Industrial Area 5.

There are many restaurants near Al Abar that are known for sderving variety of Emirati, Arabic and Persian cuisines such as Jabal Al Reef Restaurant, Mahashi Ala Kaifek Restaurant and Kabab Al Sariah. These restaurants are located within a short drive of few minutes and often accessible on foot. Those craving for Italian cuisine can try Vapiano at a drive of 13 minutes.

The community is not very close to the beaches but if you are looking for a relaxing day out, you can go to the calm and quiet Sharjah Beach. It is not so crowded and a nice spot to watch the sunsets. The beach is accessible in around 13 minutes from Al Abar by car.

Located at the historical Cultural Square, Al Abar is home to many popular landmarks of Sharjah. There’s Sharjah Library with the most extensive collection of books in the UAE. Those fond of art, literature and historical artefacts can visit Sharjah Archaeological Museum and Sharjah Science Museum.

The community is home to Al Abar Park. There are kids’ playgrounds, swings and walking tracks as well as a sports court there. You can access the family park within a few minutes on walk from any part of the community. As for the fitness facilities, one can hit Toronto Gym about 5 minutes away from the community or Rashaqte Fitness which is a women only gym in Al Abar. Similarly, Sunflower Beauty Center in Al Abar can be considered for beauty and spa treatments.

The abundance of schools in the area also means that the roads might get a little crowded during peak hours. But the community makes for a family-friendly address with a quiet surrounding and all the basic amenities within reach. Also, property prices may seem relatively higher but considering the construction quality, property types and expansive covered areas, residents find it a comfortable place to live in.
