Abu Samrah, Al Ain

Abu Samrah is a residential district in Al Ain located at the western end of the emirate. It is a compact village enclosed by farms, dune conservations and shelterbelts. The area consists of villas mainly along with small houses built by locals. The Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road (E22) runs in the middle of the community providing access to key areas of the city. There are numerous projects underway as per Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 in Abu Samrah to facilitate Emiratis and their social being.

Abu Samrah is a family-friendly residential district featuring villas and a range of communal facilities. Although it is located a bit far from the central city, the road connectivity provides ease for commuting. The major population of the area is Emiratis who have farms and small packaging companies for dates and other fruits. Since the community is developing, only a few units are available for rent or sale purposes.

Properties in Abu Samrah include villas located in Abu Samrah Residential Complex Al Ain. The residential complex spread over an area of 24.8 hectares consisting of 61 houses. Each villa in the complex has an area of 2,025 sq. m. and consists of two floors.

The ground floor has the living room, a separate dining room, maid’s room with bathroom, kitchen and laundry and storage room. The master bedroom with an attached en-suite bathroom and built-in wardrobe is also located on the ground floor. The upper floor of the villas has the other four bedrooms with attached bathrooms and a living room with a lounge. Other facilities include a guest room, parking area, roof garden and a driver’s room.

The residential complex is a project by the Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada. It was initiated under the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to provide modern yet traditional housing facilities to UAE nationals in the country. The project involved the construction of villas along with electric supply, sewerage networks, paving of streets, potable water and other services.

Parking in Abu Samrah isn’t a hassle as each residence comes with dedicated parking spaces. Most of the villas offer a garage with parking space for one or two cars. Visitors can avail the street parking facilities.

Since the community is under development, the only mode of public transportation in Abu Samrah is taxi service. Residents can hail private or online taxis to travel to their destination.

Those with private conveyance can commute using Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road (E22) which connects it to key areas of the city. Using E22, residents can reach the central city and the emirate of Abu Dhabi in a short drive. The same road connects the area with Al Rawdah Road (E30) and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road.

There are several local grocery stores in Abu Samrah offering fresh and quality products. These include Baqala Noor Swihan, Baqala Zahrat Al Ain and Baqala Bawabat Al Ain. Residents can also find a few supermarkets after driving for around 7 to 10-minutes. The nearest options include Futooh Al Khair Supermarket and Muscat Supermarket.

Abu Samrah Masjid is a large community mosque in Abu Samrah where Muslim fellows can offer daily and congregational prayers. Rashed Abdullah Belyoha Mosque and Al Rahman Masjid are other facilities in the area.

Those who follow Christianity will have to drive for around half an hour or more to visit churches of the city. These include Al Ain Evangelical Church, St Mary’s Catholic Church and Al Ain Pentecostal Fellowship. Sikh community members can worship at Gurudwara Nanaksar Al Ain which is located towards the east in Al Khirayr community.

Parents with school-going children will find several educational institutes a short drive away from the community. Al Taleaa Primary and Secondary School, Ramah Primary and Secondary School and Al Naeem School. United Private School is another school near Abu Samrah following the American curriculum for KG to Grade 12 students. The school has science labs, playgrounds and libraries to facilitate the students. It is located at a 20-minute drive in Al Yahar community.

Higher education options are available within a half an hour drive. These include Al Ain University, United Arab Emirates University and Abu Dhabi University Al Ain.

Al Khazna Healthcare Centre is a premium medical facility accessible in a 20-minute drive. It provides services for family medicine, women’s health and prenatal care. The clinic also has a pharmacy, laboratory and a screening centre. Universal Hospital is one of the best hospitals in Al Ain located a short drive from the community. Other clinics nearby are Mediclinic Al Yahar and Cleveland Clinic.

Abu Samrah shares a border with some of the popular residential areas of the emirate. Ramah is located to its immediate west while Al Yahar and Al Saad are situated towards the eastern side of the community. Al Maqam, Al Salamat and Al Bateen are other nearby areas accessible using Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road.

Aliah Mall is a popular shopping destination near the community. It has several retail outlets, dining options and recreational facilities. The shopping mall is located a 20-minute drive from the residential area. Those looking for other shopping malls near Abu Samrah can head to Markhaniya Mall and Souk Extra. Some of the best shopping malls in Al Ain such as Al Jimi Mall and Al Ain Mall are also located nearby.

Most of the restaurants in Abu Samrah are located along with the Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road. These include Bu Habbash Restaurant, Desert Breeze Restaurant and Abdul Salam Restaurant. Other options in the neighbouring communities are Abu Samra Al Maher, Popular Meals Restaurant, Habat Ruz Restaurant and Bishara Restaurant. Residents can also dine at some of the best restaurants in Al Ain after driving for around half an hour towards the east. These include Solidaire, Al Fanar Restaurant and Café and The Coffee Club.

Residents must prepare themselves for an hour-long drive to visit the coastline of Abu Dhabi. The popular beaches include Yas Beach and Al Raha Beach.

Alanka Fort, also spelt as Al A’ankah Fort is a notable historical landmark near Abu Samrah. The fort which was a house was built by the ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Saeed bin Tahnoon from 1845 to 1855. It has a tower, walls made with mud bricks and palm tree trunks are used for ceilings. The fort is located near Al Rawdah Road, accessible using Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road.

Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club is a popular leisure spot near the community. It has playgrounds for rugby and cricket, an academy in each club for newbies and a range of dining options. Other leisure spots near the community are Al Ain Zoo and Qasr Al Muwaiji.

Abu Samrah Park is an ideal recreational facility for friends and families. The park in Abu Samrah has play areas for children and shaded seating areas to facilitate visitors. Residents can visit some of the best parks in Al Ain including Al Ain Ladies Park and Al Jimi Park.

Fitness enthusiasts can find plenty of gyms near Abu Samrah to keep up with their fitness routine. Prestige Fitness Gym and Arnold Gym are a few of them. These fitness centres are located at a 20 to 25-minute drive from the community.

For grooming and pampering, some of the popular salons are located near the community. These include Home of Queen Beauty Centre, Happy & Ruby Saloon and Raw Beauty Salon. Gents salons near Abu Samrah are Kazaar Salon for Men’s Care and Elegant Gents Salon. It will take a 20 to 25-minute drive to reach these beauty centres in neighbouring areas.

The government of Abu Dhabi has planned to provide a regional bus route, walking tracks and cycling trails to facilitate the community members. Apart from the transportation system, a few residential projects are also in the pipeline for the local community.

Abu Samrah is an ideal residential community for those looking for a peaceful living away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Those planning to move should keep in mind that the area is currently under development and has no bus station nearby. The neighbourhood is suitable for those with private conveyance to commute.
