Because photos are the first thing property seekers notice on a listing, a well-taken photo can make a huge difference in promoting your property and ultimately getting more leads.
In this article, we’ll be walking you through everything you need to know about photography to enhance your property listings. From prepping the room and getting enough light, we cover all the essentials you need to know. We also have some bonus editing tips from a professional photographer!
Before Taking Your Real Estate Pictures
- Upon arriving at the property, make sure the property is clean and clutter-free. This includes having dust-free floors and counters, making the bed and tidying up the kitchen and bathroom.
- Have a strategy in mind about the photos you take. They should be taken in a logical sequence that shows the full property including features property seekers look for.
- Although any smartphone with a camera can be used to take photos, a camera with a wide-angle option is preferred. This allows you to display a bigger picture and cover more area. Some phones with a wide-angle camera are the iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 13, Samsung S20 and Huawei M9.
Things to keep in mind during the shoot
- Make sure your photos are taken in landscape mode. Landscape images look more professional than those taken in portrait mode
- The best times to take pictures are 7:30 am to 11:00 am and from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Avoid taking photos at night unless you want to show off dramatic night views.
Editing Your Photos
After taking the pictures, use editing tools to improve their appearance. We would recommend apps like SnapSeed or PicsArt to do this. You can also use the default photo editing tools available on Samsung and iPhone.
